Leak Curiosities |
At right is the Leak "Console Cabinet" dating from around 1950, and housing:
This unit matches the Leak "550" speaker.
(Original photo and sales information from an
advertisement in Wireless World, Sept 1950.

The equipment at the right was demonstrated at the 1953 APAE and BSRA Exhibitions.
The TL/12 amplifier is shown on the center-right of the black and white photo, with the new "Vari-Slope" pre-amplifier, which can be strapped together into a single units for portable use suitable for public address applications.
The Leak "VS-Radio-Tuner" is shown on the left of the black on white photo, and also below in simulated colour. It features Variable Selectivity (6kHz, 12kHz and 24kHz) allowing the user to choose wide-bandwidth giving higher quality audio signals, or if required restrict the bandwidth to reduce interference. Although not stated, the VS-Tuner is for AM radio use. It requires HT and LT feeds from an associated power amplifier, as it does not have its own power supply built in.
